Appointments

Opening Hours

The doors are open from 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday.
The Surgery will be open for consultations from 8:30 to 6:00pm and the telephone lines will be open 8:00 to 6:30pm Monday to Friday.

Making an appointment

To book an appointment please phone 01492 533800. There will be a member of staff available from 08:00 to 18:30 Monday to Friday to answer your call. We will try to ensure that you see a doctor of your choice. However, due to heavy demand, annual leave, training, sickness etc, this may not always be possible.

We do have a limited number of pre-bookable appointments available daily. There will also be some appointments available on line for patients who are registered for My Health on Line.

We operate a triage service where patients contact the surgery from 8 am, you will be asked to mention the nature of the problem to the receptionist. You will then receive a call back from the triage team on the day who will conduct a telephone consultation. If the issue can be dealt with over the phone, it is, if you need to be seen by a GP or another health care professional, this is arranged during the telephone consultation. You can also request this service by e-mail to enquiries.w91031@wales.nhs.uk between 9.30 & 3.30.

Using the triage service you may be -

Only urgent requests are accepted after 4 pm and all routine calls after this time are asked to call back the following day. The patient will receive a call back on the same day unless the workload is exceptional and does not allow for.

We do our best to keep waiting times to a minimum but urgent problems do arise unexpectedly and may delay some appointments. In these exceptional circumstances our receptionists will endeavour to keep you informed and give you the option to cancel and re-book your appointment.

Numerous appointments are wasted every week by non-attendance, this causes delays to both GP and patient.

If you are unable to keep an appointment, please advise the surgery as soon as possible. You can cancel an appointment by texting us on 07387794865 (this number is for texts only).

Repeated failure to cancel appointments, without a valid reason, may result in your removal from our medical list.

Home Visits

Home visits are reserved for the genuinely house bound or for situations where the Doctor feels that assessment at home is required. These visits are at the Doctors’ discretion. If you feel that a home visit is required, please phone 01492 533800 BEFORE 10.30am.

Alternatively if you need to speak to a Doctor or our Advanced Nurse Practitioner please ring as early as you can the Doctor or ANP will return your call as soon as possible during the course of the working day. Our receptionists will only transfer a phone call to the Doctor during surgery in exceptional urgent circumstances since, as you can appreciate as a patient in the room yourself, constant interruption is frustrating for both patient and doctor and does not lend itself to a successful efficient consultation.

Test Results

Please ring for test results between 10am and 2pm. Due to Data Protection we are unable to give results to anyone other than the patient unless it is regarding a child when it should be a parent.

Accidents and Emergencies

In the event of a serious accident or medical emergency, call 999 without delay.

Remember, however, that the Ambulance Service is an overstretched resource, particularly out of hours, and that unnecessary non-urgent calls place an extra burden on Ambulance crews.
